Papa Poule - The Lizzard Chronicles: Part 4: The Egg of a New Beginning

with this one i was tasked with just inbetweening, as you can see the green i use to inbetween. it seems everyone just keeps moving me to inbetweening for some reason, its probably because i don't find inbetweeing to be that hard, but then again it isn't really that hard of a thing to do. maybe it is the fact that i am happy to do it, and other people are more vocal about wanting to do more glamourous stuff, like keying or colouring, which both look alot better at the end.

Papa Poule - The Lizzard Chronicles: Part 3: Betrayal

so for this one i was tasked with inbetweeing and clean-up. one thing i keep forgetting to bring up is that i keep forgeting to do those little flourishes on the tail and the neck, before this wasn't really a problem because i was keying and the fact that theu weren't there didn't really change anything, however due to the way people colour in TV paint, it'll make their lives alot easier if i did all of the lines for the clean up. so as per usual i had to back over it adding the flourishes and handing it off.

Papa Poule - The Lizzard Chronicles: Part 2: The Fate of BLizzard

i was again tasked to key this shot, and again the same problems arose. however the shape was alot more difficult due to the angle, however after much anguish and many rub-outs i was able to get a working versions.i have become quite good at drawing the little arms and i can definitly feel myself getting better.

Papa Poule - The Lizzard Chronicles: Part 1: Blizzard Rising

i was asked to Key the lizzard for this shot. they made it out to be really difficult, but i didn't find it too be that much more difficult than the average keying for a shot. the only real problem was getting the shape right. getting the shape right was a little bit of a pain, and i did get the size wrong, but those are small problems that were solved almost imediatly. if i had to do it again, i would find it easier because i have gotten quite used to the Lizzard's form.

Dead Armless 2 - Staring into the distance

i would like to point out that this isn't a sequal to the original Dead armless film, this is the original Dead Armless film, i have just taken to calling it Dead Armless 2 for no real reason other than fun.
again i was doing the clean-up and the colouring, and it is basically the same as the previous upload in terms of information. the only difference was that there was less to animate because he isn't moving alot.
nothing else i can really say. move along

Dead Armless 2 - Electric buggaloo

so i did the clean up and the colouring for this shot. thankfully i was given excelent reference to use when colouring so there would be no complaints about anything being wrong, infact there was no feed back on it so i presume it was perfect. the main problem with this was conecting all of the lines so i could colour using the fill button which helps alot.
there isn't really anything i could have done to improve this because i was doing it to their specifications.

Hate Crime - a very helpful police woman

i actually keyed this shot as well as inbetweened it, and as a result there was a little fun i could have when keying this shot. as the dude is meant to be talking, but it didn't matter as to what he was talking about, i had him swear about one of the others working on the project. it was just for me and no-one else noticed it, and as it came to inbetweening it i kinda had to butcher it a little to keep him talking for the length of time he was meant to be talking.
thats the most interesting shot i worked on for this project, everything esle just boiled down to, inbetweening this, and inbetweening that.

Hat Crime - call the hat crime police

yup inbetweening the hand movement, unlike others there was no room for interpretation, it was just inbetween the hand movement, that was all you had to do. could i have tried to fix the shot? maybe, but there was no need as i still don't see anything wrong with it.

Hat Crime - no entry

a simple inbetweening of the dude getting rejected, naww poor dude. any way i implemented the green inbetweening for the sake of the clean-up artist.
this was very easy because all of the lines were simple. i don't have anything else to state. move along

Hat Crime - The Longest Shot i've inbetweened

this shot is super long, its seventeen seconds long! in the grand scheme of the film we created its only about a quarter of the length of the film, but it was still massive! here i had a little bit of not caring, but i don't think anyone would notice even if they tried looking at it.i used a green pen when inbetweening to help differentiate the inbetweens from the clean-up from the previous clean-up.
other than that i inbetweened, not alot else i can say

Hat Crime - Moving Bus

i was tasked on inbetweening this film. i didn't need to inbetween the buss because that was already inbetweened technically, so i was saved from that. theres not much i can say about this other than a small complaint, or request, asking me to inbetween using a different colour to make it easier to clean up.

Time Anarchist - WOW! it's an Image

this image was created for a few reasons; first i needed a particularly impressive image to grab one's attention (A WOW image), the second is that i needed another stunning image to convey the feel of the film i am doing, and the third was because i was responding to the criticism that the art style was too similar to other art work everyone is doing, it is that default style that is meh for people to look at.
the main problem i had with this was colouring the background. the pen i was using wasn't the default version and it did a fair few things, and as a result the pen would lag behind to such a huge degree that it sometimes took something like a minute for it to catch up. this could be of the high pixel count of the page.
with this i tried to go back to the roots of the style, an art style that was reminiscent of working with pen and paper, having that rough feeling you get when working on paper. i think it worked.
i was also getting a little lazy with the background as all i put in it was a desk, i could have added more, but i felt it was unnecessary for what i was aiming for.

Time Anarchist - Workshop Surprise

A Potential wow Image or concept art, i dunno yet. this is meant to be the part when the Alice B, the future version, comes in to warn Alice A, the present version, not to put on the time machine and definitely use it.
the reason as to why it is partly concept art is because it is meant to be using Kevin Dart's background style, but i have kinda taken it beyond that to something completely different, i would like to have done it correctly but at this point i am kinda pushed for time so i'm sticking with it, plus it is still really nice so i probably keep it as a WOW image

Time Anarchist - Animation Test

this was a test to see how the animation worked, and like a sane person with little time to spare i made it as dificult as i could possibly make it. i did a dynamic camera pan with a moving background that was a book shelf! i realised that the bookshelf was a pain so i didn't add one behind Alice A but it wasn't until afterwards i was told that it didn't even need to have the book shelves to begin with, which made sense, i just wanted it to look like Einstien's study.
my main complaint, other than the stupidity of the camera angle, was the poor work of the movement of the background. if i had actually keyed it out, and not did it as an afterthought, it would have looked alot better.
i would also have liked to have done more desinging for it, maybe i could do that if i was to carry this on as a third year film.
anyway, i continue my masocism of using a dynamic shot to really wow everyone that looks at it, distracting them from the terrible storyteller that i am. maybe with practice i will get better.
also it is basically impossible to do one of these dynamic shots without a layout of the room, it really helps to figure out where everything needs to go. there was another layer i deleted that showed my working for this shot, but to anyone but me all it really would look like is a bunch of colourful lines scribbled over this image.

Time Anarchist - Jungle Concept

welcome to the jungle. this is an atempt to see what the dinosaur jungle part of the story would look like in Kevin Dart's art style. it has worked or at least looks really nice, however the amount of detail and different objects would make it too difficult to animate, now it wouldn't be too dificult if i kept the camera in one spot, but i do like my dynamic camera shots, so attampting this with a changing perspective, would be an absolute nightmare. if i was to do this agian i would decrease the amount of stuff thats in the image, add a more pronounced shadow and light stream, as to keep it more in tune with Kevin's work and actually atempt it in animation.

Time Anarchist - WOW-Concept art

so the isea behind this image is that Alice A has time traveled to roman times and has set the two gladiators against Alice B in an atempt to slow or stop Alice B. my god having named them has made explaining the situation alot easier. anywhoo, this is my first proper attempt at mimicing the style i am using for the background, im using an artist called Kevin Dart, he is a background artist and concept artist in the industry and his style fits with the Toonimated style.
i would love to have tried this again paying more attention as to where the lighting goes, when i was doing this i was more focused on the style, design and the placement, also getting it done in a reasonable amount of time. maybe i could also have used the same brush i used to texture the background to create the shadows creating the same edge that is created when Kevin does his shading.

Time Anarchis - Ispiration and Potential WOW image

The Inspiration is basically a mood  board comprised of images that realte to the artstyle that i am trying to mimic, and for the character inspiration, ive added design aspects or feature that i wanted in on the character design, not all of them are in the art style, but thay are the best form of referesnce i have.
the Potential WOW imageis meant to be Alice A smashing through a clock wirlpool thing creating a butterfly from the shatter lines of the smash. i would love have gone over this again after the story has bee nailed down, and as a result this image doesnt represent exacty what is happening in the story due to it being done before a major story rewrite.

Time Anarchist - style study and expresions

It has come to my attention that i had failed to upload the style study, probably due to forgetfulness and or stupidity, but anywhoo it here. there are two drawing among them that are not a copy of one of Toonimated's drawings, and those where to try and understand the styl, needless to say i hadn't quite gotten it yet so i did a couple more of toonimated's drawings. now i chose this style for a differnt story, but i changed it, but i didn't want to change the style, because i liked the style, it could work well in animation and ive already put effort into leaerning this style, so by joeb i was keeping it!

the character expresions are self explanitory ... expresions. i used some base versions, however the most useful one is the wierdest, and that was the WTF version, hmm now that i think about it, that makes sense because time travel is very confusing, people will be doing the WTF face alot.
maybe i should do some more or have a version for Alice B, future version.

Time Anarchist - Character Turn arounds

The top Character is the present self time traveler, actually this is going to get confusing if i refer to her like this, i'll call her Alice, because time travel is a rabit hole of insanity that does its absolute best to confuse you.
ok so top Character turn around is Alice A, the present version of Alice. i have come to the conclusion though that the anarchist symbol on her shirt is a little too obvious, plus it would be a pain to animate so i dropped it for later designss.
. the reasoning behind the design was because the male design was so generic, i took one look at it and vomited in disgust, so i change the gender because why not, and i kept the lab-coat because it fits the character concept, now the hair stylr was because i wanted an anarchist sort of look, rebelious. i coloured the lab-coat a light blue because i originally wanted it white, but i kept working on whit backgrounds meaning i couldn't see a difference, plus a straight white lab-coat is boring, looks like it is unfinished, and it doesn't allow for highlighting, so i went with light blue.
earlier designs had Alice weilding a sledge hammer because i wanted her to be destructive, but due to a combination of story irrelivance, character designing and laziness it was dropped.

the second character design is Alice B, she is the future version of Alice  A, and as because of this  i needed to destinguish the two whilst allowing them to be similar, so ive kept the same general outfit, but ive added an eyepatch a shoulder pad and leg things. the hair is also meant to be longer and more unkemot due to time travel shinanigens. as you can see i have dropped alot of detail to make the character easier to animate and try and remain closer to the style of Toonimated.
